OpenClaw started as a question rather than a product: can an AI agent actually carry part of the moderation load in a live Discord community, or does it only work in demos? This prototype was built to find out.
The moderation side covers detecting inappropriate messages, generating warnings, and deferring to admin authority rather than acting over it. The flows were designed so a human always stays above the bot in the chain of decisions.
To test response quality under pressure, the bot runs two distinct personas: a crypto technical assistant and a football analysis assistant. Both topics move fast and attract confidently wrong answers, which made them a useful stress test for how the agent handles questions it should not answer.
It also answers around the clock whenever it is tagged, fielding the repetitive community questions that would otherwise fall to whichever moderator happened to be online.
